Week 21 (4-15-19)  Schedule continuation and Pics

Hey mom and dad!
I wanted to send  a quick email to you all and finish this past week. I think I got to lunch.
so lunch (almoƧo) is either with members or we eat the food they prepared in our house.
After lunch we go to work, and try and teach the people we had planned for that day. we also have alternatives if they aren't are, and if those people aren't home then, we just try to contact people in the street. It can be hard.
Either on Tuesday or Wednesday of each week we have district counsel with those in our zone. In our zone we have a total of 6 sisters. My district leader is Elder Mitchell from Chili. and our zone leaders are Elder Ross from Seattle area and then Elder Olivera from Brasil.

Then once in the transfer (6 weeks) sally the 3rd week we have zone conference, where we can be uplifted by by President Schotlz, Sister Scholtz also speaks to us and we usually have training, Sister Carvelho have a training this zone conference on working with the members. it was really good, remember every member a missionary!
then also we have interviews with president about this transfers, the good and the bad. He is definitely an inspired man, and I am grateful he is my Mission President.

Some sad news is Sister Carvehlo will probably will go home this week because she has been having some trouble with her knee and its pretty much kept her down this transfer which has been hard, so keep her in your prayers.

I can't think of anything else this past week. thank you all again for your love and support here on my mission. if you can I encourage you to help the missionaries as much as possible, and also feed them. If they are anything like me, I am hungry ALL THE TIME. I have no idea why but I am hungry, lets just say my pants don't appreciate it, and I am slowly growing out of my clothes. Yikes!

Love,
Sister Pierce

Week 22 (4-22-19)  He is Risen !!!
Hey Family!

So this week was good, but had it's challenges. Sister Carvelho didn't work in the field because of the problems with her knee but yesterday in church she shared her testimony. She shared that you "Don't have to have a name tag or serve for 18 or 24 months to be a Missionary", which is really true. This past week I worked a lot in a trio and found some new people to teach.

We also had interviews with President Sholtz and he shared that though I felt I wasn't making the progress I wanted with the Portuguese language to remember how far I have come in 5 months. A talk I was reading spoke about "When we compare ourselves to others we rob ourselves of blessings and joy."

I'm sorry I wasn't able to send pictures this week. I couldn't get them to work on the computer, but hopefully next week I can send some photos. Easter (Pascoa) was super great yesterday. I spoke in church, not super well, but it was my first talk in the field! I'm sure my next talk will be better.

Have an Amazing Week!

He is Risen!

Love,

Sister Emma Pierce

Week 20 (4-8-19) My Daily Schedule – Part 1

Well, howdy everyone!

Hope this past week was great, and I hope this email finds you all well.
As I was thinking about what to write, I have lots to write, well because I am just awful at writing this, so please forgive me. My parents keep asking me to send what a daily schedule looks like.

Here goes !!  So at 6:30 am, my alarm goes off, then we have companionship prayer, then I have individual prayer. Afterwards, I lazily exercise for about 20 minutes.

About 7am, I take my first shower of the day. Then get dressed, usually I wear pants, and then eat some breakfast. It really just depends on how motivated I feel to make breakfast, so usually it consists of the following options. Chocolate cereal, toast, or I can try and not burn myself and use the lighter to ignite our gas stove to make myself an egg.

I also like to make oatmeal, but it doesn’t have all the things I already like, for example a prepared packages of peach or strawberry or maple and brown sugar, you know the kind.  If I want it bad enough, I have to make it from scratch. The oats, then add milk then add butter and a little salt with sugar. This takes a while, so it’s not often.

About 8am we plan for the day, start with a prayer; write our studies write the people we are going to visit and the lessons we are going to teach them. Then write our goal for how many new people were are going to find and how many people on date for baptism, then we end with a prayer.

Afterwards about 9am, I start with a prayer, to begin personal study, and study most of the time on Portuguese for about an hour, and then I end with a prayer.

About 10am we begin companionship study, start with a hymn, start with a prayer and then read 3 pages from the missionary manual handbook, and share what we studied with each other. And usually I have a thought on the baptism invitation, the restoration or sometimes other topics. Then we close with prayer.

About 11am, I start with another prayer to begin language study, for about an hour. I am just now finally figuring how to study well.

I am sorry I am out of time, but I will finish more next week. Needless to say, I pray A LOT during the day, so if you find it difficult to say just one prayer a day, think again J

With love from Brasil,
Sister Pierce

Week 19 (4-1-19) New Companion, New Area & Pictures !!!

Hey Family & Friends,

Sorry  I don't  have much time left to email today.  I am really liking my new area! I think it is relatively small, I feel like it has more of a farming feel to it, not quite as much city.

Can you look into getting whatsupp? Lots of people use it here, so when members want to send pictures of us home they can use this app on their phone. I think a member here in my area sent photos through Facebook of a service project we did this past week.

My branch is pretty small here and we meet in house. I going to include some photos today of where we meet for church and my new companions. Sister Carvelho is my companion. She doesn't speak any English, but the good news is that my Portuguese is getting better each day.

I think you keep asking me about my daily routine, which I can send next week.  I am super excited about General Conference this week. We are going to hear some amazing changes,  especially regarding missionary work!!

I look forward to talking more next week. With Love from Brasil :-)
