Week 45  (9/30/19)  Email & Pictures ðŸ˜Š

Hey family!

Sounds like this past week was good for you guys, despite the weather. That’s so awesome of  you to meet our new neighbors. I hope they won’t pass away before I return home, lol...

Oh what’s snow???? Its been a while since I’ve seen that white stuff , lol. Thank you for your fasting. This past week was truly a week of miracles! We were super close to reaching all of our goals, so thank you for your prayers. Please continue to pray for me and for the work here. Because it’s not easy, and I’ll share an experience with you.

The day was going well; lots of people were giving us presents. Kind of strange, but it was cool. I received a natural cream or lotion to help with pain that I can rub on my legs, because I’ve been experiencing lots of pain these past few weeks. I think just because of how much we walk, the sun is super hot, lots of factors.

A man were are teaching gave us a cool pen that, I  LOVE and then to end the day,  a lady that we were teaching has a BIG  shoe problem, she has LOTS and LOTS of high heels, and would you believe it, she gave me and Sister Costa a pair. I’ll try to include photos, then I’m not sure what happened exactly next, but after we left it was starting to rain.  As we were  getting closer for us to be home, we had been walking for a long time, and all of a sudden I had this feeling of irritation that overcame me towards my companion, and I didn’t speak to her for the rest of the evening. I know, it’s very childish, but I didn’t get over it.

Our zone leader called when we got home asked us how our day was? Sister Costa talked with him, he then asked how I was doing? She handed the phone to me, and talked to me for a while, I didn’t say much, but he could tell that I wasn’t okay, he then asked if he could say a prayer, I said sure, even though it was over the phone, it was very simple but I started crying. He asked again but I left it, and went and took a shower, and cried some more. Let me tell you that it’s really hard to cry while you’re taking a shower, lol.

I got ready for bed, and then laid down, cried some more, and tried sleeping, but it wasn’t very helpful. In the end, I just prayed that I could have this angry feeling of pain be taken away from my body. It wasn’t instant, but I was able to calm down enough sleep, and again it wasn’t in that moment, but I realized that it was the Atonement of Jesus Christ effecting me, that truly it’s not only for those that sin, but the Atonement encompasses a lot, and since then, I’ve felt better, and haven’t had many days with pain. Truly Amazing!  A scripture in 2 ne 9:21(i think) talks about the purpose of Jesus Christ.

Also in this same chapter verse 51 is super funny. All should read it when you have a desire to go to the dollar store lol, it says:

51 Wherefore, do not spend money for that which is of no worth, nor your alabor for that which cannot bsatisfy. Hearken diligently unto me, and remember the words which I have spoken; and come unto the Holy One of Israel, and cfeast upon that which perisheth not, neither can be corrupted, and let your soul delight in fatness.

This past week we also had interviews with president Santos, he thinks I’ll be a senior this next transfer, but I don’t want to be. I still have trouble with the language, but grateful for what I’ve learned so far.

Also today I was reading in 2 ne 10, about how 550 years before Christ they new that America would be a place of freedom, and would not be ruled by kings. Just remember the blessings you have and freedom, because there are many people and many countries who don’t have the same freedoms that we have.

Time for me to go now, I  Love you all J

Week 44  (9/23/19)  Email & Pictures 😊

Hey Family!

Great to finally talk to you. Sounds like things are going well for you. This past week like I said was kinda hard, but we were able to bring 5 people to church, which was a miracle!

Some exciting things. Well I'm now 10 months in the misison-yee hoo!! Time has passed quickly, but I love it. I also love where I am serving now. The members in our ward are amazing!

We also had zone conference this past week. It was amazing as usual. President has changed our hours little bit to help us adapt to the scorching sun. So now we leave our apartment at 10am, work until 12, eat lunch at 12, and then return to our apartment to finish our studies until 3, and then return to work, when its a little bit cooler. So its been good :)

Last night we had a great family night, with a family and then another family were recent converts and part inactive. The Spirit was incredible! I'll include a photo :) We also had a few weeks ago another family night with a couple we are teaching at another members who had hot dogs from the states. They have like this sauce that they include, its good, a little different but good!!

I think I already included this but recently Sister Satons made a rule that we can't drink pop and drink juice in powder form,  like the Tang I sent you. Anywho... this week will be a week or miracles! Thank you again for all the love in support you've shown, and keep reading and saying your prayers !!

Mom - good luck on your test, i'll keep praying for you!!!

With Love from Brasil ðŸ˜Š

Week 43  (9/16/19)  Baptism, Wedding & Pictures 😊

Hey Daddy!!

Hope you are doing well! Love you lots. Sorry I didn't get to talk to you today. Oh mom didn't say anything about if others like the chocolate here in Brasil, but hopefully they did :) It's good stuff! The account looks correct.
This past week was good, it was REALLY hot!! I feel like sometimes I'm closer to the sun here than when I was home LOL!

Really nothing exciting happened this past week, kinda boring. Oh one day we got lost walking to lunch, and I got super sunburned, but oh well. I learned my lesson, use sunscreen more frequently. This week in the BOM I was reading a few chapters about how courageous Nephi was. How when all these terrible things were happening to him he broke his bow, and so how were they going to eat food?? Its not like they had a Walmart in the middle of desert to go and buy some groceries, no, and it wasn't only his family, but also his in-laws, and so what did he do? He humbled himself, and confided in his father- a prophet to ask the Lord where they can go to obtain food? He continues- and the Lord blessed me abundantly. Truly amazing the courage he had, and also the faith he had. In another chapter they were talking about the Liahona, and how faith and diligence were the things needed for it to function properly, one without the other, couldn't work.

Then today I was reading when the Lord asked him to built a boat- not just a  little tiny boat you take fishing- but an Ark. Once again- he couldn't go to Lowes or Home Depot to buy the things, he didn't even have a blue print, he didn't even have a fire starter- he had faith, that's all.
I believe that there is something to be learned from his example. So think about that a  little this week, when things are hard, when we don't have a many things, resources, or whatever, where is YOUR faith?

Love you all, have an amazing week ,
good luck with school, Mom Serenity and grandma!!

Week 42  (9/9/19)  No Email / No Pictures 😊

Hello Everyone,

This week was challenging with the technical issues Sister Pierce was having on her end. We could see her, however we couldn't hear her when she was speaking to us on Google Hangouts. After 20-25 minutes of trying to communicate with her we ended the call until next week.

She was not able to send any email or photos. We did  receive text confirmation with her that she is still companions with Sister Costa and in the same area until the next transfer in six weeks.

Winter in Brazil is slowly coming to an end, she is getting a little warmer each day.  Please keep on praying for her and other missionaries teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ all over the world.  Till next week....

Week 41  (9/2/19)  Email Only !!!  ðŸ˜Š

Hey Family!

I am happy you guys got the box, you don't know how many times I prayed over that box to get to you guys. I'm glad you are enjoying the chocolates. I think the chocolate here is way better than in the US. Did you have a favorite juice? (she sent  a variety of Tang packets)

Sounds like you guys are working hard in the shop. Congrats about that, continue to work hard, its only 9 months away til I am home and you guys will be going into winter shortly, and with school you'll be super busy. That's good news about Serenity and you ! I will continue to pray for you to do well in school. Tell dad to give you both blessings before you start. The power of priesthood is real.

Well, friends and family. I received an email from my family saying that many of you have added to my mission fund. They don't know who you are. I'm not even sure, but Heavenly Father knows, and both He and I are very very grateful for the sacrifices you are making to help me to be here to serve the Lord. Not being too worried about what's happening at home or how I am going to pay for my mission really helps me.  So truly, thank you. I know for a fact you WILL be blessed.

This past week was kinda hard, but full of miracles. It was week 6 in the transfer and me and Sister Costa were just exhausted. More than usual, I felt like. And the only conclusion was that Satan was working will all His force to drag us down, because we were helping Marco and Alexandra prepare for baptism. I am just sure he was working on them as well. In the end, the wedding and baptism were just beautiful, and I cried, but oh well. Now they have a goal to work towards the Temple :) One day they will be an eternal family, and I am soooooo very grateful I could have a small part in it. I'll include some photos.

This past week, we were very privileged to hear from our Beloved Prophet, President Nelson, as well as his wife. Also Elder and Sister Cook, and Elder and Sister Adidikius (I'm not sure that's how you spell they name- His is the Area President of Brasil) Anywho, it was amazing. On Friday we had broadcast just for missionaries and then yesterday after church, we got to hear again. They are definitely inspired people. One thing I love what Sister Nelson shared with us was about contention. She said, how can we avoid contention? She shared, first we need to be humble, so first think about that. Are you a humble person or a prideful person? She then added, We need to remove it from our hearts and minds, We need to study the Saviors words. How? In the scriptures, Read 3 Nephi 11-17 about when Christ returned to the Americas. We also need to use a softer tone of voice, and respond loving to people. She also added sometimes we can practice the situation beforehand. When in the instant the person may become granary and we can practice how to respond calmly. We can stop contention and heal the wounded. It was so beautiful!

President Nelson talked a lot about families. Families are ordained of God. How our homes need to be a place of love, peace, and refuge from the storms of life. He also said we need to teach our children that the highest blessings are found inside the Temple.

He also shared a funny story about when he and his first wife were newly married. He also talked about the importance of paying tithing. He said that when they were short on money they didn't know how they were going to make ends meet. Then they heard the hospital needed blood donations and they would get paid for it so they went straight away. He  said when they were finishing, his wife looked at him and said: "Don't forget to pay tithing on the blood money!" Hahaha!! He said "I paid and the blessings were amazing."  He also said that we should teach the Law of Tithing to the poorest people. Truly beautiful words.

Oh yeah woo hoo I'm staying one more transfer in here Ala 1!!!! I'm super excited, and I'm staying with Sister Costa. I am excited about that!! Also this past week they assembled my bed, so now i had a bed, i'm super excited about that.

I think that's all that happened this past week, Full of miracles for sure.
Love you all, and have a fabulous week

With love,

Sister Pierce
